In 2024 we saw considerable demand for consultancy and engineering services in markets such as industry, infrastructure, ports and airports, and for services aimed at climate change mitigation and adaptation. Furthermore, good project results and increased productivity arising out of digitalisation and the use of AI, helped us achieve the strong results.
Royal HaskoningDHV is allocating a third of its profit for 2024 as a profit share for employees.
From 2025, the company wants its employees and society to share more in its profit. Going forward, 40% of the profit will be distributed to employees and the company will transfer 12.5% of the net result annually into a new fund to finance worldwide research and innovation in climate change and clean water. Both initiatives require shareholder approval at the general meeting of shareholders in April.

Royal HaskoningDHV ends 2024 financially healthy with a solid solvency ratio of 50%
Royal HaskoningDHV acquired two companies in 2024: Uticon, which focuses on the food industry, and Pondera Consult, consultants in all phases of sustainable energy projects. The acquisition of maritime engineers Arch Henderson from Scotland was also prepared and took place early March 2025.The acquisitions and investments in offices caused a decrease in the free cash flow to 15.7 million euros
The number of permanent employees grew to over 5,700 in 2024. Attention was placed on leadership and talent development, aligning employee remuneration packages with the market, and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I) for which a first global survey took place among employees.
The annual Employee Engagement Survey showed that 83% of employees are enthusiastic and motivated (2023: 80%) and 78% believe that the company enables them to be at their best (2023: 75%). The percentage of female employees increased from 28% to 29%, towards a target of 32% in 2030.
In April 2023, Royal HaskoningDHV started systematically assessing tenders and projects on five sustainability themes: climate change, biodiversity, circularity, social value, and safety and well-being. In 2024, the company assessed some 2,400 projects, representing 65% of its turnover. The assessments often prompted conversations with clients about possibilities for a more creative, sustainable solution.
EcoVadis, an authority in the field of sustainability assessments, rewarded Royal HaskoningDHV’s sustainability management with a platinum medal in 2024 – the highest recognition.

In response to the increasing risk of coastal flooding, PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, has appointed Royal HaskoningDHV to conduct a flood risk assessment for the country’s coastline. Our study will evaluate the likelihood of economic and social risks and explore the benefits of various adaptation measures to an optimal protection standard. We will use our Global Flood Risk Tool, to provide a comprehensive flood risk assessment.

The Porto Romano Port is now entering its next development phase: the construction of Phase I. And the port is encouraging environmentally and socially conscious strategies to ensure it's an environmental, social, and economic success.
One example of our long-term investment in research and development is the Aurea technology, developed together with Wageningen University for the removal of pharmaceutical residues and other micropollutants from water. It has been named winner of the Vernufteling 2024 – the annual prize for the most ingenious engineering project with social value, awarded by the Royal Dutch Society of Engineers.
In March, approximately 50 beams from the A9 in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel were lifted to be reused in the A44. For this 'harvesting' of beams that are still of good quality, Rijkswaterstaat is collaborating with the consortium Groene Liggers V.O.F., which includes 12 organizations, including Royal HaskoningDHV.
