Here are some recent examples:
- Twinn Witness simulation modelling was used in the University of Cambridge’s 2021 research into AI-driven environmental sustainability in container port terminals, published in the International Journal of Production Research.
- We supported the University of Sheffield as part of the FEMM hub (Future of Electrical Machines Manufacturing), using Twinn discrete event simulation to predict and prevent faults in the coil-winging process in electrical machine manufacturing.
- Twinn Witness was used by a final year student to create a simulation model in a University of Leeds investigation into the Boeing supply chain – validating predictive simulation as a useful tool for supply chain analysis. This included code creation of the model.
- We worked with the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and the University of Leeds to demonstrate the value of simulation in visualising the impact of early design decisions on a modular housing supply network.

Twinn also supports Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) proposals as part of our academic partnerships. For example, between 2018 and 2022, we worked with the University of Leeds and Rolls-Royce on a new generation of design tools that bring downstream process and supply chain perspectives into early design decisions.
And we’re part of an ongoing collaboration with the University of Strathclyde and the York Management School on an EPSRC project that aims to leverage multi-level digital twins that can drive smart manufacturing systems for high-value-added products. Build communities
