Royal HaskoningDHV has been involved in bicycle traffic related consultancy for many decades, providing advice to the Dutch central government, provinces, regions and municipalities. Our advice includes the development of bicycle network masterplans, design and engineering of parking facilities and dedicated bicycle bridges, tunnels and viaducts.
Royal HaskoningDHV has also collaborated over many years with the Dutch Cycling Embassy to enhance and develop cycling policy in the Netherlands for the benefit of all road users.
In the UK there is growing pressure to improve cycling facilities and reduce the number of accidents involving cyclists; national and local governments are now looking to the Dutch approach for solutions.
Our Dutch heritage and our UK expertise in developing transport solutions to support new development means Royal HaskoningDHV are in a unique position to provide advice and technical support in the planning and development of infrastructure to support travel by bicycle in the UK.
Our recent project experience includes the delivery of high speed cycle routes through the Netherlands, which seek to reduce travel times for cyclists and reduce traffic congestion on key commuter routes.

In the UK, Royal HaskoningDHV forms part of a team undertaking the Feasibility Study for the cycle path which will broadly follow the route of High Speed 2. The study will look into how existing footpaths or cycle tracks could be joined up or upgraded to create a single route between London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. Royal HaskoningDHV are also commissioned on substantial studies in North Lanarkshire, Scotland and on the South Downs.
