WoningNet brings agility to operations

Based in the Netherlands, WoningNet provides services to over 200 housing associations, helping them to find tenants for rented homes and student accommodation. The company’s mission is to find “a suitable home for everyone.”

The housing industry in the Netherlands is subject to strict regulation which changes regularly, so WoningNet reached out to Novius for help building a more agile and adaptable organisation that could keep up with those changes.

The challenge

A complex regulatory landscape

Working across 14 regions means that WoningNet regularly has to adapt its services to meet both national and regional laws and regulations.

Remaining compliant, meeting the needs of various housing associations and keeping costs low requires a great deal of agility. So, WoningNet turned to Novius to help bring more flexibility and adaptability to its processes.

The solution

A roadmap for change

Working with Novius, a company of Royal HaskoningDHV, WoningNet was able to translate this ambition into a feasible roadmap for change covering organisational structure, services, processes and IT infrastructure.

Using this roadmap, we were able to help WoningNet create flexibility in a couple of ways. Firstly, we translated the roadmap into a series of new, digital services. And by creating standardised business processes, we were able to separate business rules from business processes to improve agility.

Secondly, we standardised WoningNet’s agile way of working and provided training and coaching to help the company define and manage requirements and redesign processes without the need for external assistance.

Finally, by introducing a low-code platform we were able to help WoningNet rapidly develop its own digital solutions to meet the changing needs of its clients.

The result

New digital processes

With its new, modern architecture, rules-based platform, and process design skills, WoningNet is now a truly agile organisation that can respond to changes more quickly and with a greater degree of accuracy.

Through digitising its processes, the company has been able to achieve higher quality results in terms of predictability, repeatability and measurability for a far lower cost. And it can use the data produced by these processes to offer additional value to customers.

Finally, WoningNet is now able to effortlessly keep pace with changing legislation and requirements.
