FM Logistic is an international company providing warehousing, distribution and supply chain solutions. Its sustainability strategy includes a commitment to improve the environmental footprint of its activities. To align with this ambition, FM Logistic wanted its new warehouse and office facility in Vietnam to be certified LEED Silver. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a rating system which provides a framework for healthy, efficient green buildings.

Integrated approach delivers results which exceed client expectations

Royal HaskoningDHV was contracted to design the facility and oversee construction, ensuring LEED requirements were integrated into the design, procurement and construction.

“LEED certification relies on strategies used across many elements of the design and construction, which is why an integrated approach is so important,” explains Royal HaskoningDHV Green Building Specialist Luong Vang Le. “The success of this approach enabled us to deliver over and above our client’s expectations, achieving sufficient points for LEED Gold certification. It is the first multi-customer distribution facility in Vietnam to be certified at this level.”

Opex savings from reduced energy and water consumption

The design measures support our client’s sustainability goals while reducing operational costs. Energy savings of more than 35% are expected, together with a 45% reduction in water consumption. During construction, waste was collected in five material streams enabling more than 80% to be recycled.

“FM Logistic is recognised as one of the highest quality services providers in the logistic market. And this comes with very high standards” adds Gregory Luciani, Project Manager, Royal HaskoningDHV. “The insurance, quality, and environment requirements our team has integrated into the design, are some of the most stringent of the industry. So, exceeding these requirements is an achievement in itself that we are very proud of.”
