ECCO is a Danish shoe manufacturer and retailer delivering premium quality shoes and leather goods to customers worldwide. Its new factory and office complex near Ho Chi Minh City reflect the standards and design of ECCO, embodying Scandinavian simplicity with sustainable and innovative design. The factory design is a modern take on European factories from a century ago. The building includes state-of-the-art production facilities as well as attractive office space.

Royal HaskoningDHV undertook the design of the facilities and provided engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services.

Office design promotes employee well-being and productivity

The office is the key focus of the building. Its minimalistic façade creates a sense of beauty in the industrial complex. Split-levels allow natural light to permeate the interior while encouraging communication and connection. Landscaped outdoor areas connect the buildings, providing space for relaxation for all staff during breaks. Optimal daylight and good ventilation throughout the building support measures to promote employee wellbeing and productivity.

A LEED Gold certified factory to benchmark its environmental performance

Our design team worked closely with multiple disciplines to achieve ECCO’s sustainability goals. The roof of the production building is covered with solar panels and the office has been constructed using local materials. It includes various energy-saving solutions such as high-efficiency glass.

As a result, the factory was awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification, benchmarking the building’s environmental performance across measures such as efficiency, cost-effectiveness, occupant well-being and the environment.
