Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Sanitation Project

Royal HaskoningDHV is helping deliver the ambitious Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Sanitation Project. This World Bank supported scheme will collect and treat the sewage of over 1.5 million people – improving public health and the environment. The scheme includes energy recovery, biogas production and a solar farm to reduce its carbon footprint. Royal HaskoningDHV has over 10 years of involvement in the project so far. From flood protection studies, collection system designs, and managing the construction of an 8 km-long and 20 m deep interceptor tunnel using 4 m diameter boring machines, to construction supervision now.

Thu Duc City Flood Risk Management Programme

Heavy rainfall, elevated discharges from the Saigon and Dong Nai rivers and high tides have combined to make flood prevention a major challenge for Ho Chi Minh City authorities. Commissioned by Netherlands Enterprise Agency RVO, Royal HaskoningDHV is working with partners to implement the integrated flood risk management plan for Thu Duc City – part of Ho Chi Minh City and home to 1 million people. Short- medium- and long-term interventions which include nature-based solutions are being developed to address flood risk and support the city’s climate-resilient economic development.

Long Thanh Airport

A new airport 40 km outside Ho Chi Minh City will increase air traffic capacity bringing economic and social benefits. Royal HaskoningDHV company NACO delivered the required independent third-party design review. The project team addressed design issues, recommended improvements, proposed cost-effective value engineering options and helped optimise costs and operations. NACO’s work helped secure planning approval for the project which is being developed by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Airport Company of Vietnam.
