From a Technical Manager to a Senior Project Manager

“After stepping in at Royal HaskoningDHV, my first project was one of Royal HaskoningDHV’s biggest projects, the Seabird project - a naval base creation in the west coast of India for Defence Ministry. As a technical manager, I managed the infrastructural drawings and designs together with our design engineers, CAD engineers and project engineers. In record time of a few months, we delivered hundreds of designs covering 9 utilities (potable water, recycled water, sewer, industrial wastewater, drain, chilled water, electrical, gas pipelines and communication ducts) in each Right of Way (RoW) with Civil 3D drawings. This was a great achievement, especially because it was the onset of Covid lockdowns and people were still learning to collaborate virtually. in the last 4 years, I have been promoted twice, as a project manager am currently working as a senior project manager. Together with mentors, seniors, and the management, we work on impactful projects across the country. It is a privilege to be entrusted for this role, because I also get to mentor 20 colleagues in my team and work collaboratively to deliver these projects on time.”

A great personal journey

“My time at Royal HaskoningDHV is a very eventful journey, especially as I learn a lot as a manager how to deal with projects, clients, internal teams and the delivery of content. This journey is fully in line with my ambitions. In the beginning, I dived more into developing drawings and collaborating with other team members. Eventually, I ended up handling huge projects such as concept to commissioning of Sewage Treatment Plants, water supply and drainage system. Additionally, I am in charge of digital ways of working, and BIM implementations. I am very happy and excited to see my personal progression, thanks to the organisation’s possibilities offered to me.”

Impactful projects in the whole country

“Currently, I am working on a variety of projects that range from sewage treatment plants under Namami Gange Mission to drainage systems with Governments of Delhi and Kolkata. Thanks to these multidisciplinary projects, I get to work with and learn from technical professionals, who are experts in their respective fields. These colleagues have expertise in disciplines varying from electrical, to mechanical, process, structures, instrumentation, hydraulic design and civil engineering. I also manage the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) which is one Indian Government’s most ambitious infrastructure township programmes. We work on 4 corridors in Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi and Bangalore. Working on impactful projects like these, I bring important service infrastructure to my country along with industrial growth and economic development. We have active projects, enhancing society in all parts of India, from North to South, and East to West.”

Multiple offices in India with a nice atmosphere

“We have head offices in Delhi and Mumbai for Water and Maritime respectively, but we also have regional site offices across the country for various projects. This helps us manage clients and projects closely, thereby bringing in more business, as well as employ around 250 people locally, who prefer working closer to home. This number is likely to grow in the future. What I like most about the company is the friendly culture and atmosphere, which makes collaboration very easy. We also get to tap into the vast knowledge of our global colleagues from Australia, The Netherlands, Singapore and the UK, which is very inspiring.”
