What do the projects entail?

Within Due Diligence, we assess existing sites and green field projects on potential technical and environmental risks for our financial clients. Job handles projects across different industries in several countries. "In my team, the focus is primarily on the industrial and energy sectors, but we also collaborate on projects in other sectors with teams from different business lines. What makes the projects dynamic is the speed at which they have to take place. We receive a wealth of information that we need to review and assess within a few weeks. We also often visit the project location to inspect it and conduct interviews. These locations can be existing sites for acquisitions or potential project sites when dealing with a new project. Ultimately, all this information comes together in a red flag report, serving as advice towards our client."

A different team for every project

"The size of the team you work with depends on the scale of the project. Is it an acquisition of a small factory in the Netherlands? Then, your project team consists of two or three team members. However, we also handle larger projects where you work with a bigger team. Currently, I am involved in a project where we have to assess 12 factories in the USA, Canada, and the UK. Because we need to inspect all the sites within a 2-week timeframe, this team is much larger, and we collaborate with about ten colleagues to ensure its success."

"For projects abroad, we often involve local colleagues with expertise in the national laws and regulations. This is valuable knowledge for us. If we have a project in a country where we don't have colleagues, we often collaborate with local subcontractors so that they can provide insights into the local context."

International projects with impact

"The exciting part is that I do this for various clients worldwide. This means that I regularly travel abroad for site visits. For instance, this year, I was in Iraq and Israel, and I also travel regularly within Europe. Additionally, our team conducts numerous Due Diligence studies for the Development Financial Institutions, where our focus is primarily on projects in developing countries."

"Another aspect that makes the work interesting is the high stakes involved. Significant amounts of money are at stake, especially in the context of mergers & acquisitions, and we play a crucial role in the decision-making process. Although the client makes the final decision, our advice carries significant weight in these matters."

What Job likes about Royal HaskoningDHV

"What makes working at Royal HaskoningDHV special for me is the freedom you are given and the responsibility you can take on. We are a large organisation active in many different domains, leading to a multitude of challenging and complex projects. If you are proactive and get to know many colleagues, you can basically handpick your projects and primarily engage in what you enjoy the most. In a way, our organisation resembles a group of 6,000 independent professionals who focus on projects they are passionate about and collaborate with each other in doing so."
